Travelers searching for a relaxing vacation destination can find everything they are looking for in San Diego, where some of the U.S.’ best beaches and premier resorts are located. One institution that continues to attract visitors is the Hotel del Coronado, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.

When the Hotel del Coronado first opened its doors in 1888, most travelers could only reach the region by train and had to spend weeks just to reach the destination. While much has changed since that time, “The Del” has remained a beacon of hospitality and luxury in the San Diego region, and travelers have continued to flock to this romantic oasis.

The Victorian-style resort boasts iconic red turrets and classic Western architecture that towers above the surrounding beaches, creating a stunning sight for visitors. Coronado Beach was also recently named as the country’s top beach by coastal experts, so travelers will be able to enjoy themselves on and off the resort’s grounds.

As part of the anniversary festivities, the hotel is hosting many special events and offering packages that are sure to impress. Past guests of the hotel include Barack Obama, John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, Babe Ruth and even members of the English royal family, so visitors who take advantage of the celebration can join the ranks of an impressive guest list.Â
