The Atlanta High Museum of Art opens its Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera exhibit

Travelers with the finest tastes often make it a point to see world-class art during their time in a new destination. That will certainly be the case if you plan on visiting Atlanta anytime soon, as a new exhibit featuring the works of famed artists Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, who were also one of the industry’s most infamous couples, is about to set up shop in the city.

Beginning February 14, the Atlanta High Museum of Art will display “Frida & Diego: Passion, Politics and Painting.” More than 140 works from the artists will make up the exhibit, but the paintings and drawings are not all that visitors can look forward to.

“Most scholarship about Frida and Diego focuses on their tumultuous relationship as a couple rather than their shared ideas and ideals,” Elliot King, the museum’s guest curator, told USA Today. “The exhibition ‘Frida & Diego’ instead focuses on how the artists influenced each other from and sharing in each other’s successes and failures.”

According to The Huffington Post, much of the exhibit will focus on the politics behind many of the works of art on display. That subject, as well as the story behind how the relationship affected each of their respective works, is on full display at the Atlanta museum. You’ll also be able to see actual photographs of the duo and get a glimpse of their life together.

The exhibit runs through May 12, so if you find yourself in the state of Georgia this spring, consider making a stop at the Atlanta museum. Whether you want to learn about one of the great love stories of the art world with your special someone or find some inspiration of your own, the showcase is sure to wow you.Â
