Hotels in Haiti offer a unique experience for all

Haiti has a tumultuous history, but there’s nothing complicated about the newest addition to the hotel scene in the nation. More than three years after an earthquake devastated the capital city of Port-au-Prince, luxury accommodations are finally ready to open their doors and welcome eager adventure travelers to this Caribbean destination. With so much to offer, jet-setters should consider making this under-the-radar locale the next must-see travel spot.

An environment like no other
One of the biggest draws of Haiti is the Caribbean island it sits on. Although it shares the space with the Dominican Republic – a well known global destination for tourists looking for a beach vacation – Haiti is still a hidden gem in the world of travelers.

“[Haiti] has a rich cultural heritage that lives through its art, music and religion,” Paul Clammer, a travel writer, said in “Bradt Guide to Haiti,” as quoted by USA Today. “Its history – written across its landscape – is astounding.”

From the stunning beaches to the lush green forest that surrounds the shores, there is no shortage of amazing locales to explore. Combining the stunning landscape with excursions to find the best local cuisine or dance the night away at a hot restaurant will only enhance this unique trip.

Luxury hotels provide a haven for travelers
The latest building to reopen is the Royal Oasis, a five-star hotel that is poised to revamp the way travelers vacation in Haiti. With more than 120 rooms and suites across 10 floors ready for visitors, the accommodation is nestled on three acres of land in one of the capital city’s best neighborhoods.

“It’s the new light in Port-au-Prince that is going to show everybody the new Haiti,” Ventura Serra, senior vice president of operations for Occidental, told The Miami Herald. “It’s a very beautiful hotel and very good location, and it’s built with all of the highest standards of construction.”

Stunning views, a convenient location and stylish rooms are all offered at the Royal Oasis, but guests can also enjoy special amenities like a salon, shopping boutiques and an art gallery right on the hotel grounds. There’s also a rooftop infinity pool and top services that can make a stay extraordinary.

Travelers aren’t limited to just the Royal Oasis, however. International brands like Marriott are in the process of building their own properties throughout Haiti, giving even globetrotters many options for finding the perfect luxury hotel.Â
